The photo field should be read in context. It does not prove conviction, it may not be posted online, and it may not be released if a statutory limit applies. A mugshot is a jail-intake image, while a court disposition is the later result of the case.
Are Alexander County Mugshots Public
Illinois FOIA is the core law for Alexander County booking-photo access. Section 2.15 says state and local criminal justice agencies must furnish specified arrest and criminal-history information as soon as practical, no later than 72 hours after arrest. The same research found an Illinois social-media publication limit in 5 ILCS 140/2.15(e). Law enforcement is limited in publishing booking photographs on social media for civil offenses, petty offenses, business offenses, Class C misdemeanors, and Class B misdemeanors unless a listed purpose applies, such as a missing person, fugitive, person of interest, or more serious-crime purpose. That limit does not close every booking photo, but it does show why public posting is more restricted than many people assume.
Alexander County Mugshot Retention
The official Alexander and Pulaski sources reviewed did not publish an online mugshot-retention window. No official rule was found saying that an Alexander County booking photo stays online for a fixed number of hours, days, or months after release. Because no official gallery or roster with photos was found, there is no local official display period to cite.
A records request is different from a display window. A detention center may retain booking records under its records rules even when no public gallery exists. Official Pulaski materials say charges can be assessed for FOIA information requested. Illinois FOIA requires agencies to respond to written requests unless an exemption or extension applies. Do not describe a request as automatic release. The agency may redact, deny, or limit a photo if the law supports that result.
Mugshot Removal and Sealing
Illinois records-clearing law is the correct route when a case is dismissed, acquitted, sealed, or expunged. Under 20 ILCS 2630/5.2, eligible records may be sealed or expunged through court procedure. The Illinois Courts approved expungement and sealing forms provide the official forms path. A court order can affect public records held by government offices, but it does not guarantee that every third-party copy disappears from the internet.
Illinois also has a consumer-protection rule for commercial criminal-record information providers. 815 ILCS 505/2QQQ bars covered providers from charging a fee to remove, correct, or modify criminal-record information. That is the appropriate legal anchor for pay-to-remove demands. Alexander County State and Federal Photos
